This week the Highlanders have been working with NZ Red Cross to raise awareness of the community work this organisation does throughout the Highlanders franchise region and also up and down New Zealand.
NZ Red Cross is the Highlanders match-day charity for this week’s game against the Sharks and National Manager John Ware will be attending the game to support the Highlanders and also to support the efforts of Red Cross around the match. NZ Red Cross will be selling the match-day programme for $1 with 45% of funds raised going back to the Charity. NZ Red Cross will also be undertaking a collection on Saturday at the match to raise funds for a local transport project that is currently in progress.
Regional manager Karen Clements commented ‘It’s great to get the support of the Highlanders players and raise awareness of New Zealand Red Cross’
Yesterday the Highlanders made a very special visit to Monticello Veterans Home to meet some of the residents and giveaway some supporter’s flags and season posters. A very special presentation was also made of a 2010 signed Highlanders jersey, which will be displayed with pride on the wall at the home.
