Highlanders Make Brave Start

Highlanders First Five replacement Michael Hobbs made an immediate impact for the Highlanders in the second half against the Crusaders in Christchurch.  The Crusaders lead 10 - 0 after 40 minutes, however the second half saw a resurgent Highlanders side.  Hobbs crossed for his first of two tries early in the second half and the Highlanders were looking odds on for a repeat of wins in 2008 and 2009, however the Crusaders kept ahead on the scoreboard and eventually ran out first round winners 32 - 17. Highlanders number 8 Nasi Manu left the field in the first half with a knee injury.  The Highlanders now face the Blues on Friday 19 Feb at Carisbrook.
